[profile + news] Jung Yoo Mi to Play the Heroine in Kim Hyun Joong's City Conquest

After my previous post about wondering who it will gonna be Hyun Joong's leading lady in City Conquest,  [http://1107wanderingthoughts.blogspot.com/2012/06/mslees-thoughts-waiting-for-kim-hyun.html]  now it was confirmed that Jung Yoo Mi will play the part.



Here is the photo of the girl. At first, her name did not register immediately in my mind. Have I seen her somewhere? This was what came into my mind upon seeing her photo. Now I tried searching for more via google and found out that she was in Rooftop Prince and A Thousand Day's Promise. But then again, I haven't had time to watch these dramas so I searched more and Dong Yi  appeared in her profile. Now, I remembered! She was casted there and played a big role also as one of the investigator ladies, if my recollection serves me right, and offered her intelligence and effort to Dong Yi's mission.

People who had watched it will remember her well.

Well, I was leaning more on Yoon Eun Hye and maybe Han Hyo Joo but I guess, this girl has a lot of potential to play the kind of role being offered in City Conquest.

Kim Hyun Joong Finds His Partner for Upcoming Drama “City Conquest”

Actress Jung Yumi from SBS “A Thousand Days’ Promise” and “Rooftop Prince” has been casted to play the heroine in upcoming drama “City Conquest.” Jung Yumi will be playing the role of jewelry designer Lee Dan Bi, who is honest, earnest, and dreams of humble and yet truthful happiness.

“City Conquest” is TV adaptation of a popular comic written by Shin Hyung Bin. It’s a story about the main character’s revenge on the society and it’s absolute evil after resenting his own father for leaving him and his mother behind. Director Yang Yoon Hofrom KBS “Iris,” films “Fighter in the Wind,” and “Holiday” is in charge with writer Hwang Joo Ha from “Spotlight” and “Lie to Me.”

Jung Yumi stated, “I’m glad to come back to the screen again. I look forward to working with the best director and writer. It is exciting to present a different side of Jung Yumi that the viewers haven’t seen before in ‘A Thousand Days’ Promise’ and ‘Rooftop Prince.’”

Previously, Jung Yumi garnered much attention with her role in “Rooftop Prince.” She is busy with photo shoots and interviews nowadays. She will be playing the partner role of Kim Hyun Joong in “City Conquest.” So far, Kim Hyun Joong, Kim Seung Woo, and Nam Goong Min has been casted in “City Conquest.” The network which “City Conquest” is to be aired  on is not yet determined.

Actress Jeong Yoo-mi has been cast for the role of Lee Dan-bi in the drama "City Conquest" according to her agency Neos Entertainment.

Lee Dan-bi has the occupation of a jewelry designer but is a character who dreams of the simplest truths.

"City Conquest" is an original based on writer Sin Hyeon-bin-I's popular comic about the hero who resents his father for abandoning him and his mother taking revenge on society. It is directed by Yang Yoon-ho and written byHwang Joo-ha.

"City Conquest" hasn't been organized yet but will start shooting next month.

[mslee's thoughts] Waiting for Kim Hyun Joong's City Conquest and his Leading Lady...

Here I go again...mumbling my thoughts. This is the result of waiting and anticipation.:))
This is just my own thoughts and mine alone. 

June 2012 will soon be over and I am kinda excited because although there is still one FM Tour left in the itinerary of Kim Hyun Joong which is Thailand, I am waiting for the start of filming of City Conquest/Conquest of the City. Really looking forward to see him again in the screen. What I am excited about is the fact that he will be playing a different character this time totally opposite to the two previous drama he played, on which he portrayed a student with a boy next door image. The clean and sophisticated and brainy guy type. In City Conquest, the role is somewhat rough, with a tough character that has a vengeful heart. The story comes from a popular Japanese manga although I haven't yet seen nor read anything about it. There were topics discussing about it since Hyun Joong accepted the lead role.

As a fan of him and of Korean dramas, I am glad that he ventured in this kind of storyline. A new way to project himself in front of his fans. A new way to see his acting skills. There may be doubts as to him being a good and effective actor before, but for me, as I see his personality, I think this one he will be able to capture the character so well. So much for my confidence in him, I know he will. Just by looking at his eyes and his demeanor sometimes, he exudes a rough manly image that can not be ignored. After all, he is Hyun Joong, who had had a rough time during adolescent years, as he had said on many interviews before. He was a typical teenager who had experience a bit of rebellion, which is what most teenagers do in their time. He was not really the pampered one. He learned to work hard in his early years before he debuted as a singer in SS501, 2005.


So, he may have a lot of experiences he can reach into while doing this drama.


And of course, I have always loved him riding a bicycle since I saw him in SS501 MV Four Chance. He was just so suave and his manly appeal is overflowing!

Of course it is a very dangerous type of transportation. So my wish for him is to be very careful when riding one, be it on filming sites. As for the rough manly character, I've seen him already transformed into it when he launched his solo album Breakdown. The change from the nice guy image to the image he portrayed in Breakdown, for me was impressive. I liked it. The macho appearance.







Just look at his stance here in this photo... rough but mysterious. The eyes made the difference. The soft look made him a person with a warm heart, despite the outer image.




This is Hyun Joong's recent photo. I think this look will make a good image for City Conquest as Baek Mir.

Mysterious and yet there is  gentleness when you look at the eyes. Read that Baek Mir although rough is gentle when it come to the woman he loves. On which I am curious to find out who will it be? The lucky girl who will play opposite Hyun Joong and his love interest in the drama. I have my own picks, my favorites who I think will have a great on screen chemistry with him.


Recently, I chanced upon an old news of Kim Hyun Joong telling in an interview who he wanted to act with, perhaps  in his next project. I was surprised by this bit of news. Han Hyo Joo is not unfamiliar to me. I have seen her in Shining Inheritance and not long ago, I marathon watched her successful historical drama Dong Yi. I love her in Dong Yi. I like her beauty. So fresh and innocent. But for City Conquest, I am not not sure if it will suit her personality. And I think she is busy with another project as of this moment with Lee Byun Hun, if I recalled right.

      Fresh off his Playful Kiss stint, Kim Hyun Joong was recently asked which actress he would like to co-star with next. Kim was not shy to admit he’d like to act with Han Hyo Joo because “her acting is impressive” and they’re “of similar age.” He stated that her image was really eye-catching in Dong Yi and he would like to act alongside her to better improve himself. I can’t help but think if these two actually got together in real life, their babies would have such lovely smiles.

They look good in this photo. Another actress that I know will make a good on screen chemistry is Yoon Eun Hye.  Well, she is one of my favorites.

But of course I have this feelings that the production behind City Conquest will choose someone else. I am not familiar with the character yet of the girl in the drama. Maybe a girl who is tough and soft at the same time. A girl who can be comfortable in an action drama. Now, I remember Ha Ji Won in Secret Garden. She looked tough but sensitive at the same time. 





But I think she is older than Hyun Joong.


Hmmm....whoever it will be, I know she will be a good partner to Hyun Joong in City Conquest.


Well...that's it for my thoughts about Kim Hyun Joong's next drama.


Before I end this thoughts, will share a new character that has just been confirmed. The guy who will play as Baek Mir's father. Kim Seung Woo as Baek Seung Hyun.



Yes! the man from IRIS. The North Korean spy. Wow! A well chosen cast.

A Gentleman's Dignity #1 Drama in it's Timeslot!

Again...daebak! Another reason why I am recommending this drama to anyone who has not yet watched it. like I said before, this drama is very interesting, entertaining and has beautiful story line. Guess the viewers in Korea and I agree on the same thing.:))

Once started watching this, can't seem to stop but want more. Very addicting romance/comedy drama. All the characters have  their own story that is very appealing. Love how their characters blend and make them all lovable. It has been a while since I was hooked this way in a drama.

Chukahae! Great job by the director and the writer for keeping us viewers glued to the story. It is not surprising if it hits 20.3% viewership ratings according to AGB Nielson Media Research on June 25, making A Gentleman's Dignity #1 in it's timeslot, drama category which on the other hand make Song Seung Hun's Time Slip Dr. Jin on the same time only got a 12.7% ratings. [well, I like SSH but then maybe it should not have been placed on the same timeslot!]

Jang Dong Gun's comeback never failed. A good choice. He definitely still got the charisma. Glad that he is enjoying this success with his co-actors/actresses. And as I finished watching episode 10 on which there was a positive development between Kim Do Jin and Seo Yi Soo, the viewers like me will impatiently wait the next episode. I know that there will be more revelation as the story goes and the writers now are thinking of many ways to make the drama better and better.

“A Gentleman’s Dignity” Reaches 20.3% Viewership Rating!

“A Gentleman’s Dignity” reached #1 for dramas in its timeslot! According to AGB Nielson Media Research on June 25, the episode of “A Gentleman’s Dignity” broadcast on June 24 reached a viewership rating of 20.3%. This is the highest that the drama has seen, it broke the original record of an 18.6% viewership rating.

“Time Slip Dr. Jin” which is the drama’s rival because it airs at the same time, had a viewership rating of 12.7%.

After hearing the news actor Kim Soo Ro (Who plays Taesan on the drama) tweeted, “We reached 20%! Thank you for all of you who are watching the broadcast. Passe! I will take this that all of you love my character Taesan.”

The drama stars features Jang Dong Gun, Kim Ha Neul, Kim Soo Ro, Kim Min Jong, and Lee Jong Hyuk It airs every Saturdays and Sundays at 9:50pm KST on SBS.
