Note: This is a fanaccount from a reporter who attended the Etude opening event in Hong Kong. The writer of this fan account is both a reporter and a Shawol.

rs and the 22 lucky fans who were selected to take a photo with SHINee, (3) an area for entertainment news/magazine reporters. There arose problems with the venue because Etude invited too many reporters for the opening event. The area for beauty magazine reporters occupied quite a large space, as lunch was provided there. In contrast, there was a high number of entertainment reporters present, yet the space provided for them was limited. This caused a situation of chaos.
There were many fans who snuck in by pretending to be reporters. Because the writer of this fanaccount is an actual reporter, she reached the venue early to prepare and find a good spot to take pictures. More and more middle-aged male reporters reached the venue after her. They accused the writer of being a fan because of her young age, and requested for her and a few other female reporters to leave the venue. The writer did not want to argue with them. After discussing the matter with the organizer, she decided to wait inside first and only go out to take pictures after SHINee arrived.
SHINee did not show impatient faces as described in certain Hong Kong newspapers a day after the event. SHINee were actually expressionless when all the scolds and booing from some of the unprofessional reporters left them feeling weird and upset. Though honestly, Key did show some signs of impatience on his face, as he is a straightforward person. Key was the first one who came out when they were walking out from the backstage area. Because the path was narrow and there were too many people around him, his hand was scratched by something. The writer supposed it was quite painful as Key frowned right afterwards. It happened in front of the writer: Key turned back to tell Minho about how his hand was hurt while showing Minho his hand. After that, Onew’s shirt was hooked by something when he was coming out as well. There were fans who wanted to give Taemin presents but he did not accept them.
The Hong Kong side organizer tended to push the problems onto the Korean staff. The Korean staff were very friendly actually, and even wanted to give the fans some free gifts, but the HK side organizer disallowed it. Among the 22 lucky Shawols, there were some fans who cried backstage because they were not able to see SHINee [as promised]. They were told that their photo session with SHINee was cancelled. The Hong Kong organizer comforted the fans by saying that their having a chance to join this event was good enough, and wanted to compensate them by giving them free gifts. However, the fans said they wanted to see SHINee even it only lasts one second, instead of getting those free gifts. In the end, it was the Korean staffmembers who comforted the fans, handed them tissues, spoke with them using English, and gave them the cosmetics which were being used in decoration displays as free gifts.
The writer saw Lee Hyosup, the Korean Etude staffmember who likes Key a lot and often takes pictures with SHINee. He was wearing a suit with a pair of grey spectacles. The writer kept staring at him, so he guessed that the writer might be a fan of SHINee. When he was preparing for the display of the event, he patted the writer’s shoulder and told the organizer to clear all the fans out from the venue. He spoke in Korean and didn’t expect the writer to understand what he said, so he spoke quite loudly. When the writer told him, “I am a reporter!” in Korean, he was shocked, then stared at her for a while and walked away. Whenever he saw her again throughout the event, he would show an awkward expression. It was funny.
Jjong’s mood was good that day. He couldn’t understand what the unprofessional reporters were asking and scolding them about, so he didn’t really think too much of it. He was in a relaxed mood and smiled a lot. However, to be honest, Onew’s smiles were quite reluctant.
T/N:
*I asked about SHINee’s reactions, the writer said they were shocked and expressionless for once. But after that, all of them did smile. Jjong kept smiling innocently. She also saw Key smiling earnestly towards the end, maybe it’s because the event was ending soon.
*I also asked about the reasons for the booing and scolding from certain reporters. The writer said it’s because the reporters are not really professional enough. Additionally, there was stress induced on the situation by the delay of the event, the fact that the organizer didn’t prepare seats for the reporters causing them to stand for quite long, and the fans sneaking in. The reporters were quite angry and eventually those things happened.
*There are 22 lucky fans in this fanaccount as opposed to 11 in our article because the 11 lucky fans were each allowed to bring a friend.
