[Episode 1] I Miss You Screencaps + recap

episode 1

The story begins with Lee Soo Yeon walking home. She was walking very timidly, hair almost covering her face. She looks like a lost child, fear written on her face. I was surprised by the opening scenes. I never thought it would be this gloomy and sad.

Her father surprised her as she opened the door to get inside. She was immediately assaulted. I realized that she has an abusive father who hurt her physically. She was thrown here and there. She was suffering and crying begging for mercy. Her father was trying to hide from the authorities. He was accused of murder. Outside, her omma was there, just listening to her cries and never doing anything. She was also scared to be found out by her husband.

Lee Soo Yeon

Lee Tae Soo
Soo Yeon's abusive father and labelled as a murderer. He was convicted.

Kim Sung Ho is the police officer who captured her father. He saw Soo Yeon under the blanket and took pity on her and carried her outside. Kim Myung Hee, her mother was there but she was so scared of what people would say and run away leaving her daughter to Kim Sung Ho. The scandal that happened in the neighborhood was all her father's doing. He killed a man and his child. These was a very tragic incident that will leave a great stigma to Soo Yeon's personality. They would become the society's unwanted neighbors and no one liked to be associated with them.

Han Jung Woo came from a very rich family, son to Han Tae Joon. I'm still trying to uncover Tae Joon's real persona;ity. He portrayed a cunning man who was threatening Kang Hyun Joo to produce her son. The boy was in hiding. The nurse, Jung Hye Mi has the boy but it was in secrecy.   The place where he was hidden was in Soo Yeon's neighborhood, a few houses  from their's.

The story seemed complicated and has a lot to uncover first for me to understand.  Han Jung Woo has a step mother, Hwang Mi Ran. Their relationship was not that good. I sensed jealousy on the part of Hwang Mi Ran towards Jung Woo. Tae Joon trusted his son, and this solicited ire on Mi Ran's part. She was also being nice to Jung Woo when Tae Joon was around, making him see her as a concerned step mother.

After Lee Tae Soo died, the bullying of the neighbors continued. They treated mother and daughter like trash. It's a hard life for the both of them. They carried the name of a murderer.

But it did not stop Jung Woo from going near Soo Yeon. He was oblivious of her past. He treated her nicely, although she was skeptical. But Jung Woo is persistent and she thought he was heaven sent. It rained on the day they met. She lent him her umbrella.

Meanwhile, there was a huge mistake concerning Lee Tae Soo's conviction. The real culprit was arrested, but too late. And Kim Sung Ho could not do anything to right the situation. The bureau will stay silent about the case. And he felt guilty.

He visited the school where Soo Yeon's studying and saw how students treated her, how they bully her and how she kept silent and just received all the punishment she thought she deserved. Sung Ho was so frustrated.

At school, Jung Woo finally know the truth about Soo Yeon. He saw her sufferings. And he was scared to be associated with a murderer's daughter. He avoided her, to her misery.

And maybe because he was guilty of being this way to a new found friend, he was angry at himself and he was so vicious when playing basketball which made some bullies turn onto him. He was beaten so badly, but Soo Yeon interfered. She knew students even boys are somehow scared of her.

Jung Woo was confused. He did not know what to do. Then he realize he was wrong to be like that to Soo Yeon. He witnessed her sufferings and burdens.

He felt pity on this poor girl whose only fault was to be the daughter of a convicted murderer.

Soo Yeon felt vulnerable and humiliated seeing Jung Woo witness everything.

She ran and hide. She was so ashamed.

But he found her.

Maybe he realized she needed a friend to protect her. And he was in no position to judge her.

The episode ended in a promising friendship between Jung Woo and Soo Yeon.

The story is a heavy drama. A bit complicated. The characters are all intriguing. But I look forward to the love story of Jung Woo and Soo Yeon.
